APARTMENT IN AMSTERDAM

INTERIOR DESIGN

Apartment in Amsterdam Noord, 45 m2

Renovation : spring 2020

The aim was to create a compact home for a young, creative couple in a 100 year old house in Amsterdam Noord. Limited space requires a well-thought floorplan – and that’s what we like to do the most. The smaller the house, the bigger challenge for us.

The specific of traditional Dutch flat is the long and narrow floorplan. It often results in a cramped space with limited amount of light. As the apartment is located on the ground floor, we tried to let in as much sun as possible. Full-height door with pixelated glass lets the light go through the house and divides the living & private part, while still making it possible to create a full-depth open space.

Another important task was to create storage space, which resulted in 3 bespoke cabinets that can fit all the belongings of the users.

Apartment is a perfect blend neutral, monochromatic core enhanced with warm vintage furniture and accessories. Compact, functional space, where the owners feel very comfortable.

Kitchen: two simple blocks in black and grey, connected by the same worktop- an unforgettable monochrome marble straight from Italy. Stainless steel armature & SMEG stove give it a special, industrial touch.
